PatternWall.com offers all kinds of rad seamless patterns that you can download for free. The patterns can be used in web design projects, as your twitter profile background, or for whatever else you like.
The site was created by Caleb Kimbrough and Oscar Godson for unknown reasons, but probably because they both just really like making websites. You can check out their blogs at Lostandtaken.com and KneeDeepInCode.com respectively.
You can use the patterns in any of your projects , both commercial (like a WP template) and personal (Twitter background). Actually...you can use them for whatever you like, just don't resell them as your own stock patterns in their original state. Other than that, go crazy!
